Luwak coffee (mongoose coffee)-Sumatera



One of the most expensive coffees is Kopi Luwak. The real Luwak coffee (the expensive one) has very unique method to get. The ripe coffee left on their tree simply to let it be eaten by luwak (mongoose). The coffee bean won’t be digested by mongoose and the whole coffee beans will be out in the form of mongoose droppings. In the stomach, mongoose does not digest the coffee and only ferment the coffee. This is why luwak coffee has fragrant aroma, signature tastes which is a bit of a bitter and sour. This flavor is the favorite of coffee lovers. In the Guinness Book of Records Luwak Coffee prices reached US $500/kg.


Gayo  Coffee- Aceh


One of the areas in Sumatera with the best coffee quality is Aceh. There are two types of favorite coffee in Aceh: Gayo Arabica coffee, which comes from the Land of the Southeast Gato Aceh & Gayo Lues, and another favorite coffe is the Ulee Kareeng Robusta coffee, which comes from Pidie district, region and Geumpang Tangse, West Aceh. Gayo coffee has a distinctive aroma and flavor. Unlike other common coffees, the superiority of Gayo coffee is that the taste of bitter will not be left on the tongue after drinking. According to most coffee lovers, Gayo is an organic coffee with the best flavor in the world.


Sidikalang Coffee-North Sumatera



Besides the beautiful places, lakes and mountains in North Sumatera, The cold air of mountains and rich minerals soil makes the Sidikalang coffee beans become one of the top quality. You might say that Sidikalang coffee is a serious rival of Brazilian coffee. Since it grows in volcanic areas, The coffee became special as the strong taste and aroma tempt the coffee lovers.


Toraja Coffee-South Sulawesi

There are approximately 15,000 hectares of land that is planted of Kintamani coffee. Kintamani coffee is a part of Arabica coffee which is grown in the highlands around the Batur volcano. The famous coffee shops, Starbucks, is using Kintamani coffee as basic ingredient.

Wamena Coffee- Papua

Wamena coffee is a type of Arabica coffee which grows in Jayawijaya Mountains, Papua. It grows in high altitude with temperature ranging between 15 deg C – 25 deg C.The processing is still done traditionally and organically. Wamena coffee smells good and tastes very sweet, that is why it is one fine quality coffee. For some people, the taste is similar with Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee but with less caffeine content. With the rich culture of Papua and local wisdom for nature, The traditional making of Wamena Coffee and natural taste of the coffee are still strong until today.
